In response to the findings, Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo said on Twitter, "We are committed to providing a secure platform for all Quora users, and we apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. We will continue to strive to ensure that all users have the best possible experience using the platform."
Quora said in an emailed statement this morning that "our team has been working hard to make sure our service is secured and is secure for all users."
"We have partnered with the security firm to make sure we have the best possible security for our user interface, which is a top priority for us as we continue to work on improving it," the statement said. "We have been working hard to make sure that all users have the best possible experience using our platform."
Quora and the tech news site Reddit did not respond to requests for comment, though both companies have responded to multiple questions about the breach.
In response to the revelations, Reddit spokeswoman Amy Wong said that she and her team, including D’Angelo, are committed to making sure the platform is secure.
"We are doing everything we can to make sure our security is up to par with the best available technology," Wong said. "We will continue to work with our security team to ensure we keep the best possible user experience possible."
Quora said on Twitter that it was "deeply troubled by the loss of all users' personal data on Quora.com and the breach on Sunday."
Quora said in a statement that "it is our responsibility to make sure things like this don’t happen."
