The tunnel's design appears to be a two-lane tunnel that will run from the convention center to the convention center's west side. The LVCVA said it's recommending The Boring to build a two-mile loop under downtown Las Vegas' city center. LVCVA board members were expected to vote on the proposal on March 12.

The Boring has said it already has completed more than 300 tunneling projects over its five-year history, including the first five-mile project in December of this year. But that project has been canceled due to an economic downturn.

"The Boring's design is designed to provide an easy and efficient tunnel system that will allow the hotel, hotel and leisure and entertainment venue operators to maintain their existing operations while reducing costs, increasing customer satisfaction and maximizing their revenues," the LVCVA said in an April 9 letter to the resort's owners.

The LVCVA said its recommendation to build a two-mile loop under the city center is an important step in its effort to move forward with its new proposed $1 billion tunneling proposal. In an April 7 letter to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, LVCVA board member Frank McLean said the tunneling proposal is "the most cost-effective alternative to the proposed tunnel that will generate more revenue through lower costs and more consistent service."

The LVCVA is proposing the loop to be two-mile. The tunnel is expected to run through the city center, from the west coast to Nevada. The loop would be completed in 2020, when the LVCVA would recommend constructing a third loop under downtown Las Vegas.

The tunnel would run about 1,000 feet, which could be used for hotels and entertainment, according to the LVCVA.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the tunnel is supposed to provide a more convenient, faster and lower-cost alternative for the hotel industry. The LVCVA is recommending the loop to the L.A. Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) as the best way to support the company's new tunnel plan.In his speech, President Trump made clear he will fight to keep "free trade" and "a free society" in the United States.
