The second John Wick movie, Wick (Reeves), opened in a surprisingly weak third place. In this time period, the film was largely seen as a flop. It was not even considered in the top 10 of total theatrical receipts for the year, with just $6.3 million over a 12-week period. The sequel earned a less than stellar $6.2 million for the same period. While John Wick: Chapter 3: Parabellum grossed just $4.5 million domestically, it was far less popular, with only $2.9 million of that total. The last John Wick film received $4.5 million for a second weekend, and it was only a $1.8 million total.

As for the opening weekend itself, the studio's first John Wick film, Wick 3: Blood of the New Mexico (2016), grossed $10.5 million in the United States for the second weekend. It received a solid $9.9 million (and $2.5 million in China), but the Chinese gross was only $4.7 million in its first weekend.

The next John Wick film, John Wick: Chapter 4: The Return (2017), grossed over $1.9 million in the United States for the second weekend, and it received a stellar $2.6 million. The third John Wick movie, John Wick: Part 2 (2018), went under for 3.2 million worldwide for the same period.

As for the rest of the Top 25, it was a solid $6.7 million in the United States, including an 8-week total. This is the second best opening weekend of the year for a Keanu Reeves-starring film in recent memory, with John Wick: Part 4: The Return hitting on the heels of John Wick 2: The Descendants in the United States, and John Wick: Part 3: The Revenge in Australia. With John Wick: Part 2 coming to theaters in November, we expect that the Keanu Reeves-directed sequel will be a contender for the Best Picture Oscar this year.

The second John Wick film, John Wick: Chapter 5: The Lost and the Damned (2019) is currently in theaters.

The second John Wick film that was nominated for Best Picture Oscar in the United States, John Wick: Chapter 6: The Man who Saved All, came in at No. 5,
