The New York Times report claims that the two organizations were "coordinating with the company to create a social media campaign to 'show the world that Facebook is a liberal media company.'"
Nestlé said that it also worked with Facebook on its research on the topic.
"Our research revealed that the same individuals were actively engaged in spreading a hate campaign against Facebook in the wake of the 2016 election," the company said.
"We were not able to determine whether these individuals were directly funding or indirectly supporting the right-wing narratives that were being circulated by the New York Times. That's where we have a problem."
"It's very clear that we are in a race to the bottom on how we make our social media presence more visible."
In an article entitled "What's on Facebook's agenda in 2015?" published by Facebook's Blogger page, the conservative blog site The Daily Caller reported that the company is "concerned about what it calls the 'hate campaign.'"
