So they started brainstorming. "It wasn't that we didn't want to be on Reddit," she said. "In fact, we were working on it for years. We were working to figure out how to be better at it—we just didn't want to do things I did that weren't good for a lot of people. So, for example, I had a little business idea of a product I was trying to do and I came up with a lot of things that I hadn't thought of." She also worked on designing a page for a new website, and her co-founders decided to get involved in the community as well.

"I started taking on a bunch of the things that I had just done because I felt like I was getting better at them," she said. She started to see how Reddit could be used as a social media powerhouse. The site is known for its "furry culture" and its ability to create unique and interesting stories, and one of those things was "gathering up the community and making their voice heard," she said. Reddit is much more than a simple social media site—it's also its own brand. The site has been recognized with the prestigious $200,000-a-year Creative Commons International and the $500,000-a-year International Institute of Creative Technologies.

And so it is for Ohanian, the founder of Reddit, and for Reddit as a community. The company has over 1,800 employees, according to its website, and it's already the largest online community for news and entertainment. The site's core product, the "Reddit API," is a "virtual encyclopedia dedicated to creating content that is a part of the site's user experience," according to its website. The site's most important feature is the ability to view news and articles on Reddit. "It's the most popular news site in the world," Ohanian said.

As a result, Ohanian and the company have been working on a project called "The Reddit Community." The project is a collection of content that the company hopes will help "rebrand" Reddit as a community, the company told Polygon in an email. The goal is to create "a brand new community that will be able to be used for a lot of different things," Ohanian said. The idea is a new way for Reddit to promote itself among members. "We're trying to help people think about the things they want to see in their communities, and how they want to interact with their community
