Lidar's first big announcement was with Tuscan Technology , an autonomous car company. They've been producing lidar products since the 1970s, and their goal is to move toward delivering their products to the masses. Tuscan is based in California and is working on a low-cost lidar system for its own vehicles. When I spoke to John "Tuscan" Johnson about Tuscan's progress, he looked at the potential of lidar and asked how much we could expect from lidar. He said Tuscan is looking to deliver a system that is a bit like the Ford Focus with its four-way mirrors. "There's some advantages to having that high-performance system," he said. "And I think that's what we can do with it. It's just not as powerful as the Ford Focus, but it's more powerful than the Focus." With these early insights, Johnson said, a lidar system could be a very powerful solution to the problem of self-driving cars. I thought about it for a minute, and thought about how it could work in the real world. "If you add a lot of weight to that, you start to lose the strength that you need to move things around," he said.

Lidar is a new frontier in lidar that's already starting to get people talking. The idea is that you can store objects in your car, such as light bulbs or a battery. If your lidar system is able to do that, it could be used by companies like Tesla to make vehicles that drive themselves. And when you store objects in a device like a lidar, you can store them for a long period of time. It can be like the kind of big data that's coming out of the Internet.

It's also important to note that lidar isn't a new technology. In 2007, the company was founded by a pair of Silicon Valley startup founders, who were working on a project called "Sonic." The company wanted to create a system that could store data and data that was much more accurate than conventional data storage in the car. The company also wanted one that could store information like distance between cars or the amount of fuel a passenger can use on them. The project was eventually acquired by Tesla Motors, which was interested in making its own lidar.
