In a recent statement, Tesla clarified that it's simply working to ensure that no one can create false information to make a profit or mislead the public.

"We are committed to working diligently with the SEC to address issues of transparency," the company added. "We have also taken steps to ensure that any tweet that contains information that may be misleading or unverified will not be approved."
