"By allowing customers to decide which items they want to
"By allowing customers to decide which items they want to buy, and then placing their own order for them, we're able to take a different kind of delivery and deliver items by voice and at the speed, and not by physical delivery," says Robomart co-founder and CEO Steve Roussel. "We're able to take the time to get the customers to their doors and to pick up their groceries."
The company's strategy and strategy for driverless delivery is an open question. "For some time now, the concept of a vehicle that can get a driverless delivery service through to any customer has been a relatively controversial topic," says Eric DePuyer, vice president of software business at Robomart. "With the advent of the self-driving car, the debate has moved to 'Who needs a driverless vehicle?'"
As for the company's future, it has some interesting ideas as to what sorts of service it will offer. In one concept for its driverless grocery service, it will be able to pay for groceries when the driver of the car, in a self-driving mode, moves the groceries from the customer's driveway to the delivery center. The service will be available in at least 50 cities in the United States—and it's a prototype at this time. "What we're aiming for is that you can drive your car to a location where it's safe to drive," said DePuyer.
The concept of a self-driving car is a lot more interesting than it is simple. The company is looking to build a self-driving grocery service that does not have a human operator, but instead utilizes a computerized system to carry out a variety of tasks like picking up a bunch of groceries. For example, a store can choose whether to pay for a certain amount of ingredients for the store's delivery, or order them for the grocery store's service.
Some of Robomart's other plans are to offer convenience stores, such as H&R Block, that have been working on their own driverless grocery offerings. It's possible that the company could offer a grocery service through this concept, though its plan would probably need a significant amount of funding from outside investors.
"We certainly don't have a lot of money left to put into this," says Roussel. "There's a lot of interest, but we definitely don't have the funding to actually make this work."You'll get this.
