At this early stage, it's possible that Microsoft will simply drop the automatic update route altogether. As of this writing, Microsoft has said that it's working on a software update that's ready to roll out, and that it'll be ready before the end of 2017. We have no idea what this may mean, but if it doesn't hit the market in three to four years, this seems like a good time to take a closer look, and move on.

Update (2/13/2018): Windows 10 October 2018 Update, version 1809, continues to limp out of the door. While the data-loss bug that saw its release entirely halted has been fixed, other blocking issues have restricted its rollout. It has so far only been available to those who manually check Windows Update for updates, and even there, Microsoft has restricted the speed at which it's distributed.The United States will be making good on its promise to take military action against ISIS in Syria this year, the country's top defense official said Friday, in a warning to the world that the threat is growing more serious.

Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who heads the Air Force's Joint Chiefs of Staff, told reporters that the US is prepared to use force to stop ISIS militants from taking more territory in Syria and Iraq – including cities such as Al-Raqqah, an ISIS stronghold.

Flynn said, however, that the United States will continue to make progress in its pursuit of ISIS fighters across the Muslim world where it is currently engaged in a civil war.

But he cautioned against taking military action against ISIS because it is still too much work.

"I don't think we'll be able to stop the spread of extremism in the Middle East and in the whole world," Flynn said.

Flynn also said he believed that Iran would be able to gain access to the US military if it can be persuaded to drop its longstanding nuclear weapons program.The first part of this story will contain the following text:
