NASA also announced an initiative to launch H3 at 8:20 EST on Dec. 7. That means it could be in orbit between Washington, D.C., and Cape Canaveral on Dec. 7. It's not clear if the launch would be for the H3 or for another rocket or spacecraft. The H3 is one of two spacecraft that are still on the road, and that means it would be taking off from Cape Canaveral around 3:40 AM EST on Dec. 7.
But how did that happen? According to Virgin Galactic representatives, on November 26, the company received a request from Virgin Galactic's customer service team to send its H3 back to the United States for a routine test flight. According to NASA, that was not the case. There were "no specific requests" from Virgin Galactic for a launch from Space Launch Complex 36 at Kennedy Space Center.
Virgin Galactic spokesman Brian Krema said that the company was "well aware of the situation that was going on with our Rocket Report in November." According to Krema, they are "not aware of any specific requests from any U.S. government or private company for a launch from the U.S. from space."
Virgin Galactic did not respond to an inquiry from ABC News.
The company has an additional launch scheduled for December 7.
SpaceX will begin its return mission on Dec. 7, at 9:00:14 UTC, in the same mission as H3.
Virgin Galactic says its rocket and cargo spacecraft will be ready for launch by Dec. 7, so they can take off into space. They are also expected to land in a test range of 20,000 feet. Virgin Galactic will fly several missions in the coming months.

Virgin Galactic announced that it has a new rocket at its disposal on Dec. 14, which they say will be a Falcon Heavy rocket called Falcon Heavy IV.
The new Falcon Heavy is a reusable, reusable rocket from Falcon 9, the maiden flight of the rocket. It will be used to take off and land from Vandenberg and then fly back to the Falcon 8 rocket in the back of a pickup truck.
