On September 15, Novum sold Novalhose, an acne creams from Novum, according to its website. It also changed the price of its Novalhose cream, Novalhose Hydromorphone, to $4,999.

"I'm so disappointed in our company," said R.J. Stangenberg, president and CEO of Novum, in a statement. "We had an outstanding product, and we will continue to make it popular with our customers."

The company also raised its price of Aloquin.

"We are pleased to be able to offer this product in a way that is sustainable and effective," Novum said in a statement. "This will help Novum maintain its current and future profits with our continued investments in quality ingredients and innovations, and we hope the continued success of Aloquin will inspire other pharmaceutical companies and other brands to follow suit."

Stangenberg said Novum was "absolutely delighted" to be able to offer the first product at a price that was so low.

"We were able to sell a lot of these products without significant changes to the formula because of our current product mix," he said. "We know we can make other things at lower prices, and we understand that people will demand better product. It's going to be very interesting to see how things change."

The cost of Aloquin is currently about $1,200 a tube, the Wall Street Journal reported at the time. Novum has said it will charge a profit for each tube.

Aloquin is not the first skin cream to hit the shelves this year, as recent claims of its popularity have turned out to be unfounded. The New York Times reported that a recent study found that a single cream can cost $6,000 to $7,000.

In 2015, the FDA reported that Aloquin caused skin inflammation by suppressing white blood cells. The FDA said the gel could also worsen acne. The Department of Defense is preparing to buy about 4.5 million Army-made Humvees to be used in infantry, armored, and mechanized warfare, officials said.
